2016 was an crazy ride.

You might notice that I don’t have a ton of content on my blog anymore if you’re a longtime friend/bride/groom of mine. That’s because my website was hacked, friends. 9 years of content all gone.

Poof.

Disappeared.

Its a long story and one I won’t bore you with but it was a series of unfortunate events rolled together. To be honest, I wasn’t the best as posting anyway. So here’s to fresh starts, sharing more, and making the most beautiful and meaningful photographs.

2016 was the year our twins, Zara and Finn turned 1 year! Life with 1 year old twins is a LOT easier than life with 6 month old twins. At least is is for our family.

In 2016, I became the leader of the Rising Tide Society for Napa Valley. If you’re a creative entrepreneur in the Napa/Sonoma area, we would love to have you join us at our Tuesdays Together meetings!

This year, I photographed some insanely beautiful weddings. Floral arrangements installations were created in such ways that I didn’t know possible. Dresses hand made, dresses designed by the designer bride herself (Did you catch that?). South Asian weddings with 4 day parties where somehow I danced until the end. I’m so proud to have been entrusted to document some of the most poignant, important, and happiest days of these beautiful peoples’ lives.

I photographed my very first birth this year as well. My friend Courtney and her husband, Erin (both exception photographers) welcomed Julien into the world. Julien was born at home and within 4 minutes of my arrival. Here’s Erin starting his first impossible project polaroid for their new son. One Polaroid every day for a year.

Families, at least tying my work with my personal life together, were a big trend for last year. I photographed the babies and not-so-little babies of my past bride and grooms *and* my right hand candy, Stephanie who help me with weddings. See the ever so lovely, Stephanie below. (If you’re a Midwest past bride/groom, you probably recognize her)

Thirdly, yet another photographer I photographed (I’m seeing a trend I like!) is Micala and Jordan. You can’t tell here but Micala was 7 months pregnant with her daughter #joviebelle at the time. Blonde haired girl in a red sweater turns to the camera beside her husband

In 2017 I’ll be sharing my more than 10 years knowledge base for tips and resources for engaged couples. If there’s one thing I know, is that an educated couple in the wedding planning process is a much happier one. And a happy bride or groom is one I want to photograph.

Lastly, here’s a preview of some Instagram tidbits I’ve shared this year. If you look closely, you’ll see some future weddings to be seen here. If you want to follow more of my work, you can here.
