Rachel and Jeremy are getting married this month (January) in a small ceremony at the Swedenbourgian Church in San Francisco, so to change things up a little we decided to do their engagement session here in Napa Valley (Yountville to be technical) where the weather is literally the opposite. (Well, not as I type…its a downpour for the last month it seems.)
I scouted this spot earlier in the week and I actually took our own family photos here myself I loved it so much. (You might see a different location mixed in here and that’s because we also stopped by beautiful patch of eucalyptus trees shading the bright overhead sun – they aren’t pictured but I love their peeling bark mixed with the smell. I’m telling you, California trees. Who knew that something as boring as trees could actually be so beautiful in the right context?) I digress – The country road has the kind of sweeping trees that remind you of a Savanah, Georgia’s spring day. (Another spot I keep putting out to the world I want to shoot…ahem…anyone?) And then the field had one gorgeous tree that I knew if we timed right, the sun would hit it, diffuse the light perfectly and give me the look that I wanted.
Effortless. Sweet. Chic.
Rachel is an editor for Where San Francisco and I believe if I’m not mistaken was an editor for Brides Magazine California for Northern California – so you can imagine she might know a thing or two about weddings. Well, maybe not about being a bride so much but about the visual components to a wedding…a fact in which I love! Both reside in the City (what Bay Area people call San Francisco) and have impeccable hair and style. As you see. I look forward to another wedding with one of my favorite planners (ever!), Jenna Lam.
